Creative directing a Mastercard-sponsored gaming event

I defined the visual identity and directed all creative output for a major Mastercard-sponsored gaming event in Morocco, from venue design to broadcast to digital campaigns.

The Problem

GEEK Maroc was producing a large-scale gaming event with Mastercard as the title sponsor. The challenge was designing an identity that felt authentic to the gaming community while respecting Mastercard’s corporate brand guidelines. Two very different visual worlds needed to coexist: the energy and chaos of gaming culture alongside the premium credibility of a global financial brand. The event also needed a consistent look across physical spaces (venue, stage, signage) and digital channels (social media, livestream, marketing campaigns) with a tight turnaround.

What I Did

Brand Identity

I developed the event’s visual identity from the ground up: a custom logo lockup that integrated the event name with Mastercard’s branding, a color system that bridged gaming aesthetics with Mastercard’s palette, and typography rules for both Arabic and French/English content.

Venue and Stage Design

I designed the physical experience: stage backdrop, player stations, spectator area branding, entrance visuals, sponsor walls, and wayfinding signage. Everything needed to photograph well for social content while also functioning as clear navigation for thousands of attendees.

Broadcast Design

Stream overlays, lower thirds, transition screens, and match result graphics for the live broadcast. Consistent with the event identity while optimized for mobile viewing.

Digital Campaign

Social media campaign across Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok: announcement posts, schedule graphics, player spotlights, countdown content, and post-event recap assets. All templated so the social team could produce variants quickly.

Stakeholder Management

Working with a global brand like Mastercard means approval processes, brand compliance reviews, and multiple rounds of feedback. I managed the creative relationship directly, presenting concepts and iterating until both the gaming community’s expectations and Mastercard’s brand standards were met.

The Results

  • Full event identity bridging gaming culture with global corporate branding
  • Physical + digital consistency across venue, broadcast, and social
  • Bilingual design system for Arabic and French/English markets
  • Mastercard brand compliance achieved while keeping the creative authentic to gaming audiences
  • Campaign assets driving event awareness and attendance
